I have such mixed feelings about my Yoga Challenge today. I am happy that it’s the last week. The pressure to try to fit in a yoga practice, some nights not until 10 pm or so, every day, is wearing on me. But on the other hand, I feel really good, really calm/centered/balanced so I can say that I’m seeing wonderful results from this Challenge. I did well this week:
Wednesday: 90 minute Bikram
Thursday: 90 minute Bikram
Friday: home practice
Saturday: home practice
Sunday: 60 minute Hatha Yoga class
Monday: 60 minute Bikram
Tuesday: 90 minute Hot Vinyasa Flow
Some things I’ve noticed that help me deal with the heat in class (often 105 degrees and high humidity): guzzle water 1-2 hours before class, eat a meal 3-4 hours before class so digestion is not an issue, completely rinse out my hair and wash my face before class so hair products don’t sweat down into my eyes, hose my mat off at home after class to keep it clean and fresh, take electrolyte tablets right before and right after class, drink a lot of water during and after class.
I am considering stretching this into a 60 day challenge because it’s summer – and why not? We’ll see!
