Clinical & Research Background

Women’s Health

I majored in Women’s Studies as an undergraduate at Emory University. My senior research projects centered on breastfeeding and body image. In later years I would return to work at Emory University as a researcher studying women’s mental health issues during the pregnancy and postpartum years.

With almost 20 years of experience in the field of women’s health, I am highly educated and prepared to help you with all of your women’s health writing, editing, marketing and communications needs.

Fertility & Reproductive Health

Since 2009 I have been blessed to wake up and spend most days writing about fertility, pregnancy, reproductive health and related topics.

In 2009, I co-authored the second edition of a book on infertility (Making a Baby) with Drs. Debra Fulghum Bruce and Samuel Thatcher.

For the next six years, I was lead medical writer, web content manager and social media consultant at IntegraMed Fertility. Supporting over a hundred fertility specialists around the nation, I co-led the social media and web content strategy for one of the nation’s leading fertility consumer brands, Attain Fertility.

In 2015, I left that company and was asked to join Fertility Planit as Director of Social Content & Communities. At Fertility Planit, we creatively support and nurture individuals and couples on their family-building journeys, bridging the gap between providers and patients.

Mental Health

In 2004, I received a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling. My areas of research during graduate school focused primarily on anxiety disorders, eating disorders and women’s health issues. That same year, I started working at Emory University where I trained as a counselor and clinical researcher with some of the top psychologists and psychiatrists in the world. This specialized background in psychology and research greatly informs my skills in writing and editing health and medical articles.

Pregnancy & Childbirth

I believe we learn best through experience and I am a proud mother of three beautiful girls. I’ve always been drawn to pregnancy, babies and childbirth. I greatly enjoy supporting moms-to-be and new moms throughout pregnancy, breastfeeding and into new motherhood.

Birthing without drugs always fascinated me: no pain medication, just surrendering to the contractions and the breath. I think our birth experiences shape us to a huge degree. I enjoy supporting women who are interested in learning how to relax and find peace, calm and centering during birth.

Yoga & Wellness

I minored in dance in college and have studied yoga and meditation since 1993. I started teaching yoga in 1998 to a group of students who probably had no idea how nervous I was teaching my first class. I loved it and started teaching a number of classes each week. I no longer teach, but have practiced yoga almost every day for over 20 years.

I’ve been a vegan, a raw foodist and a yoga teacher. For practically my whole life, I have been obsessed with health, nutrition, yoga, and natural living. I believe we reach our maximum potential when we are in our best health and I enjoy supporting others on their quest to eat better and live better. This mission to support and encourage others drives my passion for health and medical writing every day.
